Self-Assessment Tests
SECO's popular computerized self-assessment tests give attendees the opportunity to choose a topic and test their knowledge in a quick, enjoyable, and productive way. These short tests can feature clinical images, videos, charts, and other information to support the clinical challenges presented. Thousands of optometrists have taken these tests written by the most respected authorities in our profession. What better way to assess, refresh, and otherwise charge up your clinical brain cells?
Peer Comparison Surveys
SECO polled 100 optometrists with a number of questions related to daily practice. Survey questions are categorized by one of several topics including: personal technology, practice technology, national issues facing optometry, the business of optometry, clinical issues, and ethical dilemmas.
Some questions attendees may view:
- Should optical staff be paid on commission for "upselling" frames, lenses, treatments, warranties, etc.?
- Do you give out your cell phone number to patients?
- Would you ever allow an employee to ask out a patient on a date?
- Is it still feasible to start a private optometric practice from scratch?
- Do you want a single payer health system?
- Do you fill outside spectacle Rx's?
- Do you use your phone to read and send email?
- Do you have and use a twitter account?
- Do you co-manage surgical cases with ophthalmologists?
- Given the state of clinical technology, should a "routine exam" necessarily include dilation?
- Do you routinely use oral medications in your practice?
- In the last 10 years have you personally contacted state/national elected representatives on optometric issues?
- If nationalized health care becomes a reality, would optometry gain or suffer?
