Practice Tracks

SECO 2010 offers a wide range of clinical and business education tracks for optometrists. Built around the theme of "Embracing the Generations," this year's 16 all-new tracks give optometrists, from the novice to the seasoned professional, the opportunity to obtain the CE they need to provide the best patient care, from infants to the elderly.

Educational tracks, special sessions and course titles will emphasize care to the various generations and how to overcome challenges that each generation presents. This year, SECO has 16 all-new and innovative educational tracks:
  • Look into the future at major advancements that may affect how we practice optometry in An Eye to the Future track.

  • Get equipped with the right tools to own and operate a new practice in the Birth of a Practice track.

  • Focus on individual needs and interests of patient groups in the Decades track.

  • The Fountain of Youth track will discuss opportunities for patients who want to maintain their appearance using surgical, laser, and contact lens modalities.

  • The Front to Back track will cover important new technologies that will change eye care — from commonly seen conditions from dry eye to complicated ulcers.

  • Review current philosophies related toa cquired retinal disorders in the Fontiers in Retina track.

  • Check out emerging technologies to grow and maintain a practice in the High-Tech, High Growth track.

  • The Kids and Beyond track will help the primary care doctor feel comfortable examining infants, children and all patients with binocular anomalies.

  • Know Your Neuro track review courses will cover topics ranging from pupils to the afferent pathways to imaging.

  • Highlight the use and interpretation of some of the instruments most often relied on, such as the OCT, GDX and Visual Fields in the Monitor Disease with Ease track.

  • Explore the conditions of Alzheimer's, stroke, brain injuries and addition and the relationship to our patients and their eyes in the Mysteries of the Brain track.

  • In conjunction with the Optometric Glaucoma Society, the OGS/Glaucoma track will provide updates on timely updates related to the diagnosis and management of glaucoma.

  • Well-known speakers from three major practice venues will share their favorite cases and clinical pearls in the Pearls track.

  • The Protect Your Practice track will cover critical topics for protecting your online reputation and Internet security.

  • The Refractive Surgery track will reveal new advances and approaches in refractive surgical correction, along with the proper handling of complications.

  • Cover topics that affect the daily practice, including nutrition, uneitis and MRSA in the Special Topics track.
